Integrating Viva Terminal POS with Teller

Sending an order's payment from Teller directly to a connected wireless POS terminal — no manual amount entry on the device

A feature that allows users to send orders directly to a wireless POS terminal, without having to manually enter the amount on the POS devices.

What this feature covers:

  • Terminal connection — Select a POS device per register via Terminal ID, with automatic saving of the default selection

  • Payment & Installments — Sending an order to the POS, selecting installments, and completing the transaction with a card

  • Partial Payment — Combining POS with another payment method, with strict priority: other methods first, card via POS last

  • Exclusive management via Teller — Cancellations, refunds, and all other actions are always performed by the Teller, never directly from the POS device

  • Integration of the Viva Terminal POS with the Teller

How do I take payments via Viva Terminal POS?

The Viva Terminal POS integration allows Teller users to send an order's payment directly to a connected wireless POS terminal. The amount is pushed from Teller to the device automatically — you never type it on the POS — and once the customer pays by card, the order completes on its own.

Prerequisite: the terminals must be activated and registered in advance in the organizer's Viva account.

How to complete a payment

  1. Open an order & select payment method. Open or create an order in Teller, fill in the customer and ticket details, and select Viva Terminal POS as the payment method.

  2. The Viva Terminal POS modal appears. The device selection modal opens automatically. The POS Device dropdown shows every terminal registered under the organizer's Viva account.

  3. Select terminal. Select the POS that matches your checkout (see the TIP below on identifying the correct terminal).

  4. Confirm amount. Check that the Amount in the modal is correct and press OK.

  5. Wait for payment to complete. The modal shows that the payment request has been sent, the POS screen shows the amount, and the customer pays by card.

  6. Cancel payment (if required). If the payment is cancelled from the POS, the terminal automatically notifies Teller and a cancellation modal appears.

  7. Complete order. Once the payment completes successfully, the order closes automatically and the payment method is recorded as Credit Card.

TIP : Each device is identified by its Terminal ID (TID) / Source Terminal Identifier — the same number in both places. On the device: Menu → About → Source Terminal Identifier. In the Viva portal: Sales → Physical Payments → Terminals, first column of the list.

After your first selection, the terminal is saved as the default for faster checkout — you can always pick a different POS from the dropdown. More than one checkout can be connected to the same POS terminal.

Payment in installments

Viva Terminal POS supports payment in equal monthly interest-free installments. The number of installments is selected from the Installments dropdown inside the Teller modal (not on the POS device), before the command is sent. To enable it:

  1. Setup in Viva: the merchant must have POS installments enabled in their Viva account, with the maximum allowed number of installments set.

  2. Setup in the event: in Teller, go to Event → General Information → Payment Methods and set the value in "Maximum number of credit card installments (when supported)". This sets the maximum shown in the Teller modal for that event.

Once both settings are in place, the Installments dropdown shows the available options — the value 0 corresponds to a one-time payment.

TIP : Installments are only supported on credit cards from Greek banks. If the customer's card does not support installments, the POS will show a relevant message.

Partial order settlement

In the case of partial settlement (e.g. part cash and part card), the following rules apply without exception:

  • The portion paid with any other payment method (e.g. Cash, Coupon, etc.) is settled first.

  • The card payment via POS is always last, and completes the remaining amount of the order.

  • Partial settlement with two different cards is not allowed.

Important: exclusive management via Teller

  • All actions related to the order — payment command, cancellation and refund — are performed exclusively through Teller.

  • Do not enter an amount manually on the POS device.

  • Do not select Refund from the POS menu in the case of a refund — the command must always start from Teller.

  • Any action performed directly on the POS bypasses the order in the system and creates a mismatch between the POS and Teller.

If something goes wrong

Situation

What to do

The selected terminal is inactive or offline

A modal informs you that the device is not available — select a different terminal or check the POS connection

The payment is cancelled on the POS

Teller is notified automatically and a cancellation modal appears; the order stays open for a new attempt

The customer's card does not support installments

The POS shows a relevant message — repeat the payment as a one-time charge (Installments: 0)

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I type the amount on the POS? No — the amount is sent automatically from Teller. Entering it manually on the device is not allowed.

  • How is the payment recorded? Once the payment succeeds, the order closes automatically with payment method Credit Card.

  • Can I refund from the POS device? No. Refunds, like all order actions, must always start from Teller.

  • Can I split an order between two cards? No — partial settlement with two different cards is not allowed. Other methods (cash, coupon) are settled first and the card completes the remainder.
